Explorations in the idea of path-making, as color navigates white space. What does it mean to activate empty space? Where can you play with restraint? Where can you insert something unexpected? How can the omission of details, a dance with the white space, create a pace and breath in the composition that moves far beyond descriptive detail?

When we contact nature we are intimate – out of head, into body. I return again and again to this idea. The process of making the work is like stepping onto a path that is at once familiar and mysterious – I may feel a little disoriented by unexpected details, but never lost. It is a steady course of making that demands full awareness, but is never overthought. This exercise has a way of knitting a refreshed confidence and exhilaration as I emerge on the other side.
